The Alchemist | New York Street, Manchester

29 September 2016

Anyone who knows me knows I am a fan of The Alchemist bars. Even when I lived in London I dragged friends over to Liverpool Street to head to the, frankly not as good, Alchemist down there for a piece of home.

The cocktails are all, as it says in the title, alchemy. But they are not just fun to look at. They really do taste great. I do have a bone to pick with them as they have taken my favourite cocktail (a Passion Fruit and Meringue Martini) and replaced it (with a Key Lime Pie Martini) but I bit the bullet and ordered the Light Bulb Moment and realised that they are all equally great; probably why it's such a successful bar!

It can get busy on a weekend and queues can form, but I headed their on a Tuesday night after the ballet (Giselle at the Palace Theatre) and it had a lovely atmosphere still even though it was relatively quiet.

I haven't eaten there but I am absolutely dying to! We tried to go once and the whole of the gas had to be shut off; trying not to take that as a bad omen and get myself to find the time to re book.

Have you been? What did you think? x
